The article said that the teacher had attended the student's IEP meetings, so she likely knew about the potential asperger's diagnosis.  To me, this demonstrates the lack of education of our teachers concerning childhood disability.  The teacher obviously didn't know how to manage a classroom with a child like Alex in it.
